It’s scarifying and overseeding time

Choosing the best Scarifier

A wide range of Scarifiers are available however often a Heavy duty Scarifiers is the best solution and is very easy to justify if you are a large homeowner, commercial gardener, or groundsman. The performance of a larger/heavy duty model will usually be more productive enough to make the time saving alone worth the extra money let alone the better results.

The wearing of the blades is often a concern however if you look at the Heavy duty Scarifiers such as those from innovative Belgium manufacturer Eliet, you will notice they have patented Stay sharp blades which essentially carve the edge back on the blade when they hit the ground. By having this feature, it ensures fantastic results time after time until the blades wear all the way down. This is one of the biggest features of the Eliet Scarifiers holding it in high regard amongst commercial users.

Other things to look for and usually differ between lower end and higher end machines would be things like ball bearings in the wheels. This may sound like a small thing but on a larger property those wheels will see some miles. If I was a keen gardener that was looking for a high-quality garden, I would invest in the machinery required to achieve that, but I would be looking to purchase once and would want it to last. Therefore, choosing the right Scarifier for the job is key and robust and reliable Scarifiers such as those from Eliet offer superb value, made in a simplistic way to increase reliability with fantastic spare parts back up.

Eliet use double bearing wheels, stay sharp blades, double front height adjuster for strength and super simplistic designs that eliminate wear. With the high-quality materials used and the heavy-duty nature of the Scarifiers they are rated by many customers as the best on the market in their price range. They also cover a huge range of requirements with some innovative features.

One of the models features a side discharge, this allows the rowing of scarified debris and allows for a substantially quicker clean-up time of up to 50%. There is also a range of self-propelled Scarifiers with contra-rotating blades resulting in greater efficiency and results.

There are different types of blades available: double cut blades, fixed blades or swinging blades.

Fixed blades are generally suitable for many lawns.

Double cut blades (twice the blades on shaft) are well suited for Sports clubs including cricket and bowls and large homeowners in some instances.

Swinging blades are ideal for the hire market or gardens that have unknown foreign objects like rocks roots etc, this will help keep the engine safe while still doing a great job at scarifying.

Why is Overseeding carried out?

Often in turf maintenance overseeding is necessary but what is it? In simple terms, overseeding is a process where new grass seed is added to an already existing turfed area and reduces the turf ageing process. After seed germination the density of grass plants is increased thus resulting in rejuvenated, healthier turf.

Often turf has areas of bare patches and overseeding is carried out to rejuvenate the turf. This process is simple and highly efficient, with the right Overseeder such as the Eliet DZC 600 or DZC 450 you can renovate tired and thin turf in no time at all. This inexpensive alternative to full turf re-laying can take place quickly and guarantees a visible result in less than a month. Additionally, the treated turf will be available for normal use immediately after overseeding.

For larger areas or where complete seeding is required then a specialist Seeder such as the GZC series from Eliet could be the answer.
